Dans cet article, plutôt que de vous raconter mes déboires avec l’administration grecque pour obtenir mon AFM, ce numéro fiscal indispensable pour acheter une voiture ou pour s’abonner à Internet, je vais plutôt vous dire comment l’obtenir, ainsi vous gagnerez plusieurs semaines, voire plusieurs mois. Documents nécessaires

— Passeport

— Photocopie du passeport

— Carnet de santé grec (obtenu contre deux formulaires E121 à demander à votre caisse de sécurité sociale)

— Justificatif de domicile (indispensable de toute façon pour obtenir le carnet de santé). Personnellement, je me suis servi de mon bail, notarié.

— Numéro AFM et nom de la personne qui vous « parraine » en Grèce. Elle n’a rien à signer et n’a pas besoin d’être présente. Après qu’il m’a donné son accord, j’ai utilisé l’identité et le numéro du propriétaire de l’appartement dans lequel je loge.

Pour obtenir votre AFM, inutile d’aller à Omonia ou au centre de Petrou Galli qui ouvre à 6h20, il faut vous rendre au 4 METSOBOU dans le quartier d’EXARCHIA.

En bas, toutes les instructions sont en grec, montez au troisième étage et tournez à droite en sortant.

Procédure

Une fois sur place, les deux fonctionnaires qui donnent les AFM sont charmants. Quelques mots comme ‘bonjour’ ‘désolé, je ne parle pas grec’ et ‘merci’ aideront cependant beaucoup. Ils parlent anglais, mais pas français.

Ensuite, il y a deux formulaires très simples à remplir. Comme ils sont en grec, si vous avez été assez poli et souriant, les fonctionnaires vous aideront et rempliront même la plupart des cases à votre place. Ensuite, il ne faut que quelques minutes pour que l’on vous donne un papier avec un AFM.

Désormais métèque (étranger non esclave) à Athènes, j’ai écrit cet article pour venir en aide à tous les Européens qui voudraient faire comme moi. Il n’est bien sûr pas pérenne et je remercie tous ceux qui effectueront les mêmes démarches et qui constateront des changements de les noter dans les commentaires.

Documents needed

- Passport

- Photocopy of passport

- Greek Health Book (obtained against two forms E121 given by your French social security office)

- Proof of address (essential anyway to get the health book). Personally, I used my notarized lease for the flat I stay in.

- AFM Number and name of the person who you "support" you in Greece. This guy has nothing to sign and does not need to be present. After he had agreed, I used the identity and number of the owner of the apartment I rent.

To get your AFM, do not go to the center of Omonia or Petrou Galli (the one who opens at 6:20), you must go to 4 METSOBOU in the neighborhood of Exarchia.

At the ground floor, all instructions are in Greek, climb on the third floor and turn right out.

What to do

Once you’re there, the two officials who give the AFM are charming. Some words like 'hello' 'sorry, I do not speak Greek' and 'thank you', however will help a lot. They speak English but not French.

There are two very simple forms to complete. As they are in Greek, if you had been polite and smiling enough, officials will help you or even fill most of the boxes for you. Then it only takes a few minutes for you to be given a paper with an AFM number.

Now metic (alien and not slave) in Athens, I wrote this article to help all Europeans who want to do the same. It is obviously not sustainable and I would be grateful to all of those who perform the same and who notice changes to explain it in the comments.
